December 12, 2017 - Several weeks ago, the House of Commons passed Bill C-49, the Transportation Modernization Act, by a vote of 164 to 139, and it was introduced to the Senate. On December 8, Bill C-49 passed second reading in the Senate and was referred to the Senate Standing Committee on Transportation and Communications for detailed review and analysis. On December 12, the Committee commenced hearings on Bill C-49.
Parliament is rising for the Christmas recess at the end of this week. The House of Commons and the Senate are not scheduled to return until the last week of January. The Committee will reconvene in February. After the review and analysis is completed, a third and final reading by the Senate is required.

October 5, 2017 - Bill C-49, known as the "Transportation Modernization Act", received second reading and was referred to Committee on June 19. March 1, 2016 - Union Tank Car Company’s Repair Business Unit has established a tank car remanufacturing facility at Marion, Ohio. The new plant was developed to retrofit existing DOT 111 and CPC‑1232 specification railroad tank cars with new safety features required by HM-251.

September 30, 2015 - Marmon Holdings, Inc. has reached a definitive agreement with General Electric Capital Corporation and, as of September 30, 2015, has acquired substantially all of GE Railcar Services’ owned fleet of railroad tank cars.
The acquired railcar assets will become part of the portfolio of rail equipment managed by Marmon's Union Tank Car Company and Procor Limited.
